New Glasgow Website
The Glasgow Church of Christ has launched its new website. The new website has a more contemporary look and feel and has easier navigation for both visitors and members alike. It is the third deployment of the “ICOC Web App Platform” (following the previous deployments for the London International Church of Christ – http://www.thelondonchurch.org and the Birmingham International Church of Christ – http://www.birminghamchurch.org.uk ).
Other benefits include: improved content management, making the site easier to be updated; Use of current web technologies, making it fully operational on more browsers; improved SEO, enabling the site to rise higher in the search engine rankings.
The previous Glasgow Church of Christ website is still accessible at http://www.glasgowchurch.org.uk/OldHome.asp:
On Sunday 13th May 2012, we said goodbye to our full-time minister and evangelist CJ Wakefield. CJ preached powerfully to a packed congregation on the subject of “The Gift of God”. It was great to see many people there, some old and some new to celebrate the Wakefield’s time in Glasgow.
We were also blessed to have the Edinburgh International Church of Christ join us in our send off to the Wakefields. After the service, their church choir sang a song for the CJ and his wife Sheree.
During their 3½ years in Glasgow, the Wakefield’s have had a tremendous impact on the Church and touched the lives of many people in Glasgow. We have greatly appreciated CJ’s leadership, his vision, preaching and strengthening the church faith and relationships. We wish all their family well as CJ and Sheree take up a new position within the Knoxville Church of Christ in the USA. We pray that their transition will be smooth and that God will use them powerfully in their new appointment.
The Glasgow Church of Christ will start the process of finding a replacement for CJ in the coming months. We pray and ask all those who read this article to pray that God will put the right person or couple in this role so that God’s name can be glorified across Glasgow and Scotland.
Christmas is almost here!
The last week has been busy. On Wednesday we had our church Christmas party in Kilwinning, Ayrshire, hosted by Linda. We had a wonderful time of eating together and playing a Christmas quiz. A hard fought contest and sincere congratulations to the winning team, and I am sure that it is pure coincidence that the quiz master’s wife was on the winning team!
Hot on the heels of our Christmas party was charity carol singing for HOPE worldwide in St. Enochs Shopping centre in Glasgow. In just over an hour we raised just over £135 for the homeless in the UK and the Bhuj primary school in India. Thank you to all the shoppers of Glasgow who gave so generously.
2011 has been a good year for the Glasgow Church of Christ and we eagerly wait in expectation to what God will do in 2012
Merry Christmas from the Glasgow Church of Christ
